NJ-11 Special Election
Candidate questionnaires
ROUTE has reached out to all candidates running in the primary to replace New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill in the 11th Congressional District. With such an important election upcoming in a transit-dependent district, we wanted to understand where candidates stood on issues like federal funding and partnerships with other agencies to address current issues and improve service, such as restoration for the former Decamp Bus territory and expanded weekend service on the Montclair-Boonton line. We produced a questionnaire of transit issues and submitted to every candidate. 10 candidates responded.
We have posted the candidates' full, unedited responses. These answers are for informational purposes only, and ROUTE is not using them to make an endorsement.
The primary will be on Thursday, February 5, 2026, and the general election is scheduled for Thursday, April 16, 2026.
